New volunteering opportunities!

Have you got some spare time you can give to a worthy cause? Would you like to put your skills to good use? Would you like to learn new skills and gain valuable experience? If so we might have just what you're looking for.

Scottish Detainee Visitors has always relied on the skills, commitment and enthusiasm of its fabulous team of volunteer visitors who go to Dungavel twice a week to provide support to people detained there. But now we have new ways for you to get involved! Our brand new volunteer coordinator, Shirley Gillan, has been busy developing new volunteering roles and would like you to get in touch if you think you can help.

  • Volunteer country researchers: you will create short reports on relevant countries to provide information for our visitors to help them carry out their role more effectively. You may want to only work on one country, or you may want to work on a few. You'll have the ability to carry out research online and compile relevant, accessible reports.
  • Fundraising events volunteers:  from concerts to ceilidhs, movie nights to marathons, celebrity speakers to special dinners, coffee mornings to car washes. You name it, if you can pull it off we’ll consider it.
  • Fundraising appeals volunteers: you will identify trusts that could support our work, request donations from companies and organisations and  send out specific appeals.

Interested? Why not give Shirley a call or drop her an email to find out more! Please note that as of 13 August 2014 we have enough applicants for the country researcher roles. Still looking for fundraisers though!0141 248 9799volunteer-coordinator@sdv.org.uk
