Join our board of trustees
Would you like to take a lead in the development of Scottish Detainee Visitors?
We are looking for people to enhance the skills of our board of trustees.
You will have a keen interest in advocating for reform in the immigration detention system and will be committed to supporting people in detention and after release. If selected, you will play a key role in our strategic and operational decisions in relation to the services we provide for people in Dungavel and after release, our policy and advocacy work and how we support and manage our staff and volunteers.
Board members are required to attend board meetings every two months and attend our AGM. You will also be expected to do some work between meetings such as reading papers and undertaking agreed actions. Applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of one year.
We would particularly like to hear from you if you have an interest or experience in the following, or have never been a charity trustee before:
- Human resources
- Financial planning and/or accounting
- Policy development and advocacy
- Charity governance
People from BME backgrounds, people with experience of detention, and younger applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
