Join our board of trustees
Would you like to take a lead in the development of Scottish Detainee Visitors?
We are looking for people to enhance the skills of our board of trustees.
You will have a keen interest in advocating for reform in the immigration detention system and will be committed to supporting people in detention and after release. If selected, you will play a key role in our strategic and operational decisions in relation to the services we provide for people in Dungavel and after release, our policy and advocacy work and how we support and manage our staff and volunteers.
Board members are required to attend our AGM and board meetings. Currently board meeting are taking place monthly by Zoom, because of the coronavirus restrictions, but in less extraordinary circumstances they take place every two months in our office. You will also be expected to do some work between meetings such as reading papers and undertaking agreed actions. Applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of one year.
We would particularly like to hear from the following:
- People with experience of charity fundraising
- People with HR experience
- People from BME backgrounds
- People who have been through the immigration and asylum system and those with experience of detention.
