Our Life After Detention group went out with a camera, to find the alphabet in the street. Gry wrote the words.

Imprints: on pavements, on walls, letters unseen unless actually looked for – like folks in or just out of detention. Invisible to most. Stood on, walked over, passed by.  Yet we also make our mark.

Arriving.

Anticipation.

Anxiety was the worst

Beginning

saw the barbed wire first

Belittled

waiting for your turn.

In court

felt your stomach churn

Arriving

Casual, unaffacted

That’s a façade

Anxiety

and a heart of jade

Anger, aggression

Feeling tainted

desperation
